Breathe (feat. Trisalien & Aritra Basu)

from Quarantine Vol. 1 (EP) by YSP & Friends

/

about

With the release of the first YSP & Friends track '生きがい' (ikigai) in July being so well received, Yatin is back with another installation of YSP & Friends. This time, the song 'Breathe' features vocals from Shagun Trisal (Trisalien/ex-Kraken) as compared to ikigai being an Instrumental track. The song also features Aritra Basu (Jatin Talukdar Project/Groovy Noodles) on Drums.

The song, from Shagun's perspective is a representation of the built up angst and tension arising from the political disdain currently pervading all parts of India, with the instruments providing a lively yet dreamy/eerie vibe to everything - but it could mean anything for anyone.

The title 'Breathe' came from the want of breaking free from the constraints of our current world, especially with COVID-19 not stopping anytime soon, aligning itself with the current political situation in India.

lyrics

Doesn't it feel so good watching it burn away
How does it feel so good watching it burn away

An unworthy cheer, runs outside my home
It's an unholy omen
Starts to get unclear, then chokes me from within
And grabs me by the bone

Don't justify, don't even try.
You're an enemy of state, all for wanting to know
How deep runs this decay, now embrace the consequence
Of honesty

Doesn't it feel so good watching it burn away
How does it feel so good watching it burn away
Single file to the funeral pyre, bury my worldview in seams

Suffocated suffocated

Suffocated by free will x 4

Doesn't it feel so good watching it burn away
(Suffocated by free will)
How does it feel so good watching it burn away
(Suffocated by free will)
